Ohio Portraits features new work produced during Lebanese-Palestinian-American photographer Rania Matar’s time as a 2017 Mellon artist-in-residence at the Gund Gallery. Expanding an existing body of work by the artist in which she has documented mothers and girls in the Boston area (where Matar lives) and Lebanon (where the artist is originally from) over many years, Matar’s portraits are often situated amid beautiful wooded landscapes and winter fields populated by curious sheep.
Opening Reception: Monday, March 19, 5:00-8:00 PM
Gund Gallery exhibitions and programs are sponsored, in part, by the Gund Gallery Board of Directors, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
