PM Atelier: Pencil – Portrait

September 19, 2017 6:00pm – 8:30pm

About the Workshop Series:

PM Atelier is a series of hand-on workshops that introduce participants to a range of traditional artist techniques and processes. Every semester we focus on a different theme connected to our current exhibitions or collection works. Our focus for fall of 2017 is the portrait and identity. Registration is required and limited to 15 per session.

Pencil – Portrait

In this session, we’ll produce a graphite portrait drawing inspired by Alex Katz’s Ada II. Originating in France in the 18th century, the invention of the  modern graphite pencil is credited to Nicolas-Jacques Conde. Now an indispensable artistic medium, we’ll discuss technique and learn strategies for success. Participants can reproduce Katz’s drawing or bring in photographic source material.

Tuesday, September 19, 6:00-8:30 PM

Seats are limited to 15 participants. Click HERE to register.
