Exploring the visualization of data, Andreas Nicolas Fischer (1982) illuminates information normally beyond our perception. He works in a generative process that allows data to reveal itself and evolve over time. In his creations he has used data that ranges from the GDP, to music, to cell phone GPS tracking. Born in Munich, Germany, Fischer is a graduate of the University of Arts Berlin.
”[Fischer] concerns himself with the visualization of data, which normally lies beyond human perception.” —Robert Weitz. “Modeling—The Shape of Finance, the World, and Everything.” The Brand Wash. 2009.
“They are formal demonstrations of natural phenomena and the resulting form demonstrates data points collected from nature.” —Robert Weitz. “Modeling—The Shape of Finance, the World, and Everything.” The Brand Wash. 2009.
“Visual metaphors are a powerful aid to human thinking. From Sanskrit through hieroglyphics to the modern alphabet, we have used ciphers, objects, and illustrations to share meaning with other people, thus enabling collective and collaborative thought. As our experience of the world has become more complex and nuanced, the demands to our thinking aids have increased proportionally. Diagrams, data graphics, and visual confections have become the language we resort to in this abstract and complex world. They help us understand, create, and completely experience reality.” —Klanten, Robert. 2008. Data flow: Visualising information in graphic design. Berlin: Gestalten.
“The information designer shapes an experience, or view, of the data with a particular aim in mind.” —Klanten, Robert. 2008. Data flow: Visualising information in graphic design. Berlin: Gestalten.
