Crystals suggests the possibilities of interaction between object, spirituality and self. With aggressive and deliberate lines, Smith maps the ordered and disordered contours of five semi-precious stones. Through subtle gradations of light, Smith captures their outward appearance while creating the illusion of a world within, of mapped terrain and cosmic bodies. Both sublime and grotesque, Crystals channels a personal spirituality tied to the material of its inspiration.
