Jude Tallichet (American)

Born and raised in Louisville, KY, sculptor/musician Jude Tallichet currently lives and works in Queens, NY. She is a Professor of Sculpture at Tyler College of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia. Tallichet is known for her fabrication of mundane objects in unexpected materials such as fluorescent lights, plexiglass, and hydrocal. Most recently, she has experimented with carefully strewn about articles of clothing cast in stone and bronze, as shown here. Represented by the Sara Meltzer Gallery (NYC), where she has had six solo shows since 2000, Tallichet earned a BA in Religion and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Montana. She has received a number of awards and accolades, including an NYFA Award in Sculpture (2001), a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award for research in Brazil (1996), both a Millay Colony and Macdowell Colony Fellowship (1991), and an Individual Artist Fellowship in Sculpture from the National Endowment for the Arts (1990). Having collaborated with a number of both musical and visual artists, Tallichet is also a founding member of the band Ultra Vulva.
