Kay Rosen (b. 1949)
Kay Rosen’s graphic wordplay blurs distinctions between verbal and visual comprehension. She manipulates the linguistic and physical structures of words, urging viewers to reach new conclusions about their meaning. Rosen’s text-based prints, paintings, collages and large scale installations have been organized in several solo exhibitions, including a 1998 retrospective at MASS MoCA. She is the recipient of three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, and teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
