Robert Lostutter’s career is inseparable from the city of Chicago. While the artist was studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he became associated with the artist group known as the Chicago Imagists. Lostutter, while not formally included in the movement, shared the Imagist’s aesthetic of graphic figurative images depicting personal fantasies in vibrant color. Lostutter’s fusions of human and animal, nature and culture are represented in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; Brooklyn Museum; Smithsonian Institution; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
