Tony Berlant (American, b.1941)

Tony Berlant is known for his collages and assemblages created out of found and fabricated metal objects. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, a Masters of Arts in Painting, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Sculpture all from the University of California, Los Angeles. He studied under Richard Diebenkorn, and later joined UCLA’s faculty as an art professor. Berlant has exhibited widely in the United States, and his work is represented in major museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago; the Hirshhorn Museum of Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.; the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
