Our second annual K-5 postcard show features the work of young artists from Columbia Elementary, Dan Emmett Elementary, East Elementary, Pleasant Street Elementary, Twin Oak Elementary, and Wiggin Street Elementary. Mount Vernon City School Art Teachers Christina Biggerstaff, Lisa Bunsey, and Megan Reardon inspired their students by focusing on several works of art on view in our exhibition Call/Response: The Gund Gallery Turns 10. The creativity, imagination, and thoughtfulness evident in every piece is truly inspiring.
To aid their exploration, the Gund Gallery Associate Education Team developed multiple prompts inspired by works from the Gund Gallery Collections featured in the Call/Response exhibition. Prompts included, “How do family photographs tell a story?” “How would you draw dance or movement on paper?” and “Can random drawings help you remember your feelings about important places?” Engaging with these prompts, Mount Vernon elementary school students then crafted their own miniature works of art.
The Gund Gallery exhibitions and programs are made possible, in part, by the Gund Gallery Board of Directors and the Ohio Arts Council.
